CAST - Children's Aid Society Teens


Established in 1975, the Children's Aid Society Teens (CAST) initially focussed on consumer advocacy. During 1975 to 1986 the CAST members met for a yearly retreat to discuss issues as a group. In 1985 it became a full time program.

Mission
  • Work as a strong and knowledgeable team; Empower children and youth in care by advocating for their rights, well being, and best interests; Provide peer support to help children and youth with their issues
  • Improve the quality of care and service provided by the CAS by informing decision makers and the community about children and youths wants, needs, and feelings. To support the continued development of youth in care groups and networks

The CAST Team

The Children's Aid Society Teens Group consists of 8-12 co-ed youths who come from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The represent a cross section of YIC and are the voice of children and youth in care.
